Civil and Environmental Engineering

My name is Sita Baaba Nyame and I am in an Environmental Engineering Ph.D. program at the University of Connecticut (UConn) under the mentorship of Dr. Diego Cerrai. My dissertation research is focused on understanding the effects of severe weather conditions within the power system using predictive analytics to aid in creating a more reliable and resilient grid. I also work as a Global Operations Manager at the Office of Global Affairs at UConn.

I am an alumni of Burns Latino Studies and Hartford Public High School’s Academy of Engineering and Green Technology. I am an alum of UConn with backgrounds in cultural anthropology and environmental engineering. I have certifications in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and Engineering in Training (E.I.T) from the State of Connecticut.

Beyond the confines of academia, I am committed to fostering collaboration, inclusivity and innovation within my community. I continue to gain new perspective in leadership through my participation in leadership programs such as the American Meteorological Society Early Career Leadership Academy (AMS ECLA) and John Lof Leadership Academy (JLLA), where I strive to amplify my impact and drive positive change.
